This book contains five chapters. This text book attempts to provide detailed description and analysis of D.C. Machines which will be useful for B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Students.
Chapter 1 starts with the principles of electromechanical energy conversion which is the base of various electrical machines and explains construction, E.M.F equation and winding details of D.C. Machines.
Chapter 2 discusses the details of commutation and armature reaction in D.C generators and dedicated to various types of D.C generators.
Chapter 3 explains working principle, torque equation and various types of D.C motors.
Chapter 4 explains the various methods of speed control of D.C Motors and types of starters used for the various types of D.C motors.
Chapter 5 covers the testing of D.C motors such as brake test and Swinburne’s test.
This textbook has been absolutely written from student’s point of view after teaching the subject for several years. Additional care is taken to present the material in a simple way. Number of variety of solved problems was included to enable the students to understand the relevant theory. The diagrams help the students to understand the subject clearly.
